Prof. Hongen Liao's group makes important progress in the field of pneumatic soft robotics

Recently, research group of Prof. Hongen Liao, department of Biomedical Engineering, School of Medicine, Tsinghua University, makes important progress in the field of pneumatic soft robotics. The pneumatic concept and system proposed in this study have the unique advantages of “positive and negative pressure integration” and “controllable inflation and deflation” characteristics. The proposed design concept can be used as a universal pneumatic platform to satisfy the robust pressure requirements ranging from negative to positive driven robots.


Fan Mao and Ne Yang won the "Excellent Paper Award" of ACCAS 2021

The 17th Asian Conference on Computer Aided Surgery, ACCAS 2021 was held online on December 10. Fan Mao and Ne Yang, Ms and PhD students of the Biomedical Engineering Department of Tsinghua University School of Medicine, won the "Excellent Paper Award" for their thesis "Close observation and depth perception using liquid lens for the laparoscope" and "A Graph-based Diffusion Radiomics Model for Genotype Prediction of Brainstem Gliomas".

 


The "Expression of Haidian" on building an international science and technology innovation center -- the 5th meeting of the 10th committee of Haidian district of Beijing of the CPPCC

Recently, Prof. HongenLiao attended the 5th meeting of the 10th Committee of Haidian District of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). The committee members discussed on the innovation and development of science and technology in Haidian District and the construction of an international science and technology center, and put forward pertinent suggestions from the perspectives of medical artificial intelligence, intellectual property, biological medicine, intelligent sports innovation and so on.

 


Chengquan Hu won the "Excellent Paper Award" of ACCAS 2020

The 16th Asian Conference on Computer Aided Surgery, ACCAS 2020 was held online on November 27-28. Hu Chengquan, PhD student of the Biomedical Engineering Department of Tsinghua University School of Medicine, won the "Excellent Paper Award" for his thesis "Multi-DOF Soft Actuator with Phase Transition Alloy for Adjustable Stiffness".

 












Mingyu Zhu received Tsinghua University's Outstanding Thesis Award and Tsinghua University's Outstanding Graduate Award. Wei Chang received Beijing's Outstanding Graduate Award. Xiwen Cui received the Bronze Award of QiHang. Congratulations!

2017 Tsinghua-Todai Joint Workshop for Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering successfully held

  2017 Tsinghua-Todai Joint Workshop for Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering was successfully held from April 14th to 15th in Tsinghua University. AT3D is one of the main organizer of this workshop. In the joint workshop, 9 professors and 4 students from the University of Tokyo in different fields such as medical instrument and computer-aided surgery, biomaterial and sensing, MRI imaging and processing, medical robot, cell and protein engineering and neural engineering were invited.









Xinran Zhang and Fang Chen, two postgraduate students of AT3D Lab, delivered a speech with the topic “analysis of medical image in Minimally Invasive Diagnosis and Therapy” on RONGv2.0 Forum in Tsinghua University.

 


Ms. Fang Chen, a PhD student of AT3D Lab, delivered a speech with the topic “Integration and Innovation of Intelligent Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologies” on 2015 Tsinghua Symposium on Vascular Diseases.

 



Our research achievements were exhibited on 2015 Chinese national science day’s exhibition

 On September 19, the 12th Chinese national science day, held by China Association for Science and Technology, opened in China Science and Technology Museum. This 7-day exhibition, the theme of which was “Feeling & Touching Science”, exhibited advanced achievements of 18 research groups around China. Our latest research results were showed with the theme of “Foresee Future Medicine through 3D Display Technology”…


Xinran Zhang entered EMBC15’s Student Paper Competition

  A member of our lab, Xinran Zhang, became one of the finalists of the 37th Annual International Conference of EMBC15’s Student Paper Competition. She was the first student from Mainland China entering this competition in recent 15 years.


Dr. Baiquan Su received a grant from National Natural Science Foundation of China

  Dr. Baiquan Su’s project, “Research on High-precision Minimally Invasive Laser Therapy for Brain Tumors”, received a grant from National Natural Science Foundation of China (61573208)



A Breakthrough of Naked Eye 3D Display -- Prof. Liao developed the world's longest distance dynamic 3D display

  Our work on "Super Long Viewing Distance Light Homogeneous Emitting Three-dimensional Display" was published in the Nature Publishing Group "Scientific Reports" journals. The paper was soon highlighted as research frontier and reported as "New route to glasses-free 3D displays -- Tsinghua University system uses MEMS scanning units to avoid pitfalls of existing designs" on the Institute of Physics Optics website.


Dr. Baiquan Su received Honorable Mention Award in APCMBE 2014

  Dr. Baiquan Su with School of Medicine, Tsinghua University received the Honorable Mention Award in Young Investigator Competition of the 1st Global Conference on Biomedical Engineering and 9th Asia Pacific Conference on Medical and Biological Engineering (GCBME2014- APCMBE 2014) on October 11, 2014. The title of the paper is ”A Laser Ablation End-Effector with Multiple Degrees of Freedom for Minimally Invasive Surgery”.


Nature Photonics:NATURE PHOTONICS: Prof. Hongen Liao involved in the development of the fastest photography in the world (4.4 trillion frames per second)

  Recently, scientists from The University of Tokyo and other universities jointly developed the fastest photography in the world. The photosensor of this photography can achieve 4.4 trillion imaging per second. This research “Sequentially timed all-optical mapping photography (STAMP)” published in “NATURE PHOTONICS” introduced the design and principle of the photography.


Prof. Hongen Liao published a perspective article in minimal invasiveness theranostic

  Prof. Hongen Liao accepted an invitation from international journal “Computerized Medical Imaging and Graphics” and published an invited perspective entitle of “Integrated diagnostic and therapeutic techniques: Toward an intelligent medical system” related to minimal invasiveness theranostic. This article summarize the future directions and priorities of integrated diagnostic and therapeutic techniques based on an in-depth analysis of the current status of technology and clinical needs.
